The infinite knot has many symbols associated with it such as the intertwining of wisdom and compassion, wisdom and method, the interplay and interaction of the opposing forces in the dualistic world of manifestation, leading to their union, and ultimately to harmony in the universe. Since the knot has no beginning or end it also symbolises the wisdom of the Buddha.
